CONQUEST for DEATH The NECROS STILL RULE

by Sean Reveron (CVLT Nation)

1982…children of chaos & mayhem…we were the 13 & 14-year-olds who saw through the eyes of hardcore punk. We terrorized Venice & Santa Monica, but a part of our soundtrack was the Ohio band The Necros. We skated through the hate that society had for us, and we really liked The Necros because they skated as well. Their first 7 inch was super sick, but it was Conquest of Death that made us go “these dudes are killer!!!” On this slab of vinyl they were one of the first hardcore bands to mix metal into their sound of sonic terror.

On one night in 1983, I saw The Necros, Sin34 & Dr Know straight rip the Cathay de Grande apart! The energy was pure teenage truth that night, the police could fight our power! Know this: one reason why The Misfits became so popular is because of The Necros & all of the Midwest punks. When no one on the East or West Coast was checking for The Misfits, the Midwest kids were championing them. Now enjoy this riotous bunch!
